Baby C is here!

After much anticipation, Baby C is here! He was born very early last Wednesday morning.

His delivery was very different from the other two. Mainly due to the fact that my body was actually progressing on its own to have him. With A and G I hardly progressed at all causing me to have to be induced.

Tuesday afternoon I had an appointment with my Doctor. After seeing her and being told that I was only dilated to a 3, I figured we would end up being induced that night as had been scheduled the previous week. I have never gotten to a 3 on my own, but I still had a ways to go... or so I thought.

After the doctor appointment I did some shopping to get last minute items, went home and took it easy. No use making myself feel the pressure in my pelvis if I was going to be induced later that night anyways, right?

Well I ended up going into labor later that night after all... guess all the walking that afternoon did its work. After a call to the hospital they told me to wait for the contractions to be 3-4 min apart for 1 hour. So I waited, they said it would probably take 6-8 hours anyways, so what was the rush to get to the hospital. After 30 min or so of the contractions 3-4 minutes apart (only 2 1/2 hours after the phone call to the hospital) they started to get closer... yikes!

I had been praying all night for help to know when we should head to the hospital, since its about an hour drive from our house. After the contractions got closer, I felt very strongly that we needed to leave. R wanted to wait for the full hour to pass and get some more sleep, but ended up agreeing it was time to go after seeing how much pain I was in. As we got closer and closer to the hospital the contractions were getting stronger and much closer together. I could barely walk by the time we got to the ER.

After being rushed up to Labor and Delivery they checked me out, I was ready to deliver, NOW! I never thought it would go that quickly!!! Needless to say it only took about 20 minutes from the time that we arrived at the hospital until we were holding our new little boy (and that was with holding back pushing as much as I could). They ended up having to call the on call Dr, and she made it in the room just in time to catch the baby.

I am thankful for a Heavenly Father that answered my prayers. Letting me know when we needed to leave, had we not left when we did R would have been delivering the baby himself on the side of the road, or possibly at home. Heavenly Father also answered my prayers in helping me wait to deliver until we got to the hospital.

I had been worried about delivering with a brand new Dr (since my regular OB/GYN was having health problems and had to retire about 3 weeks previous). I had also been debating on whether or not to try going with out an epidural this time around. Both of those were no longer under my control by the time I got to the hospital. So I can now say I have done a natural child birth and check that off of my hand print list.

I am thankful for the Nurses in Labor and Delivery that were able to rush and get everything ready in time. Although I don't remember much other than being in pain, I know they had to get alot ready in a very short period of time. I have to say I love Arrowhead Hospital, and every delivery gets better. All the nurses and staff that helped me out over the few days we were there were absolutely wonderful.

We are so happy to have C in our home. A and G love to rub his head and try to give him little hugs. G loves to wave at him and say, "hi C". Although it can be a bit frustrating at times with how much they want to hug on him, they are really sweet. The first night home A and G were bringing him toys to share. G brought him some of his favorite cars and A kept bringing him stuffed animals and blankets. A and G have been big helps already with grabbing diapers or cleaning up things when I ask them to.

I can see a very happy future for all of us!
