So, Amanda and Gabe both started coming down with the sniffles and a small cough Thursday evening, by Friday morning Amanda was running a fever and very lethargic. Gabe luckily didn't seem to have any problems besides the runny/stuffy nose and cough. Amanda woke up from her nap Friday with a fever like none before, her little face looked like she had been in the sun all day it was so red, and she was sweating like mad. The problem it is Friday afternoon and I would rather not have to pay the co-pay to go to an urgent care, the Dr. office for sure is not going to have an opening this late in the day. So what do I do??? we decide to give Amanda a blessing and hope for the best till Monday. (thank you Brother Hoopes by the way for coming so quickly to help with the blessing!) So poor Amanda all weekend looked a bit like the living dead, she was not her usual energetic self. Gabe still had the cough and congestion problems, but it is RSV season and I didn't want to risk him getting it so I decided that he should go to the Dr. too, not to mention he is coming down with a fever starting Sunday night.
Monday finally arrives, along with the rain, Amanda doesn't even want to walk out the door for her Dr. appointment. She is crying nearly the entire way to the Dr. office... I wanted to cry too. We finally saw the Dr. and guess what??? Thankfully Gabe is doing fine, just the cough and congestion, Amanda on the other hand has an ear infection. I got ear infections a lot as a child, I can imagine the pain that she is in. I really wish that there was something that I could do to help her more than what I have been doing already.
We have an antibiotic now for Amanda and cough syrup for both kids. Amanda is doing better already, she has been playing all morning and getting into all sorts of trouble again. I am happy she is feeling better, but I kinda miss the quiet house. They are both sleeping a lot due to the cough syrup, but sleep is good for you when your sick, right.
Any ways that is the one story of feeling sorry, I also have to feel sorry for Richard, and poor Brother Adam Johnson.
Our Saturn has had problems with the ignition switch a lot this last year, we replaced it like 6 months ago. Low and behold I go out one night, the car is working fine. Richard gets ready to leave for work the next morning and the key will not even move. We found out this is a common problem with Saturns and we now had to go to a dealership to get it fixed. Only problem we cant start the car and the steering wheel is locked in place too.
Adam volunteered to help us get the car out to the nearest dealership, in Avondale, but they needed to get the car on a car dolly first. How do you do that when you cant start the car and cant steer it??? Line the dolly up with the car and try try try to get it lined up correctly. Normally not a horribly big problem... Except when you park in a dirt alley way and its raining like mad out side. Can you say MUD PUDDLE! Poor guys were out there for who knows how long trying to get the car on the dolly. They were slipping and sliding trying to get traction to push it up the dolly. Enter Heather to the rescue (kinda)! I got home from the Dr. and they now could get the car pushed up on the dolly with the Osmobile.
I sometimes seriously want to go back to the horse and buggy days, it seems like it would be so much easier. Anyways, I cant believe how stressful this last week has been. I am glad that the kids are feeling a bit better and the car is getting fixed finally. Now if only we could get the housing arrangements done.
